"Maybe You Should Diet."

Yep. He let those words come out of his face last night. We were arguing, and it went something like this:

"I don't feel like a man. I'm not working, I can't do anything right...it's hard to feel sexy when I'm so fucked up in everything else in my life."

"I understand that, but not fucking makes me feel fat and ugly."

"Well, if you feel fat, maybe you should diet. That's you, not me. You know I think you're sexy and your body is beautiful."

And while the context eases the gravity of his offense against me, nay, his offense against womankind, it doesn't take away that phrase, ringing in my ears, over and over again:

MAYBE YOU SHOULD DIET.

It's echoing. It's ominous. I will never eat again.

This is a man with sisters. A man who has been in many relationships. A man who knows me and knows women, well. This is a man who has lost his goddamned mind. There are just certain THINGS that you just DON'T SAY to a woman, ever, in any context. Ever.

Right? Right, my sisters?

hmmm, I'll get blasted for sure, but on this one, I don't think he did bad. YOU said YOU feel fat and being a man, he did what men do and came up with a solution to your problem. I say good for him for qualifying that you're beautiful as far as he's concerned. I want my man to tell me if I'm getting chunky. I fucking tell him! He's not getting out of shape on my watch lol.

I say, never say those words- unless you want to fight...

I think guys know not to respond to a statement like that- they're not stupid. Mine would say something like that if he was feeling like passive agressive a hole
